Preventative Medicine for the Soul-Slow Down, Tune In, Rest, Repeat

I have been having trouble finding words for what I want to write about...so much is "downloading" during this Spring energy for me, my life, my work, and a lot is evolving and there is change afoot, although not fully ready to be articulated. Not to mention everything we have all been through and are going through collectively, I sense the overwhelm, the heartbreak, the not-knowing how things will re-emerge. So inevitably and paradoxically I have so much to say that I know it can't be one piece of writing. And so, I think I am creating a "series", if you will, about Preventative Medicine for the Soul. This week I will give a little backstory, share a tidbit or two about preventative medicine for the soul and ways to care for your soul, why it's important, and write the first "prescription".

As I grow and learn so does my work, I evolve, it evolves. As I root deeper into my spiritual practices, the way I work with others gets deeper and shifts, I learn new potent tools to access my spirit and my assignment on the planet is to share those that my community needs and desires. So every few years from a business and life design perspective I look at the whole she-bang, what's working, what's not, what I need to let go of, what I want to preserve, and what I want to create. A part of that is updating my message, my offerings, clarifying language, the whole bag of nuts. And so much has been on warp-speed. Things I thought would not change until late 2022 are moving up the timelines due to the pandemic. So I always bring in support for this in the form of "messaging" Goddesses that help me clarify some things that only I tend to understand in my mind, so they can be understood by others. And so I get asked the inevitable question that has been asked of me many times before.

What Problem Do You Solve?

I always struggle with this question, or the part 2 which is "what problems do people come to you with?" I often have a hard time answering this because many who come to me don't generally come with a laundry list of "problems" that they can articulate but rather a sense of something being out of alignment and a desire to understand why they are on the planet and to make more of an impact (although generally they are already making one). I feel like the "problems" are secondary and really symptoms of being out of alignment with their soul's curriculum and they have forgotten the "map" of their journey. And then one night during my "slow down" time I had an epiphany. By the way you can't have epiphanies and receive wisdom if you don't slow down....which is why that will be the first "prescription" I share below. My epiphany, undoubtedly from the Divine:

I am Not Here to Solve Anyone's Problems.

Yes, you read that right. I am not. So for me, I will throw that typical "marketing" question that is external to my truth (and my values) right out the window. What I AM here for however, is to guide women to embrace their problems, alchemize their problems into wisdom and gifts, and as a remembrance that they are whole and their problems are part of the map of their soul and wisdom for the journey...which has no final destination by the way (but that is a whole other conversation). None of this is to discount some of the huge wounding and problems in the world, it is not. But I am here to prescribe preventative medicine for the soul, so we can get really truthful about what is important, and to be able to navigate the larger collective problems without going into meltdown, or a Dark Night of the Soul (although those are needed and should be embraced and not bypassed...again a much deeper teaching). Just like we eat well, move our bodies and take our supplements to prevent illness in our bodies; our souls need caretaking, acknowledgement and nourishment in order to hopefully prevent wobbling so far off center or out of alignment that we experience the Dark Nights on the regular or can't find our way back to the light and get ourselves into a Spiritual Crisis. Trust me, it's not fun, I have been there. Enlightening but definitely not fun. And when we take care of our souls we receive a LOT of wisdom we would otherwise not hear that assist us in walking with grace in our lives, no matter what problems arise. So here is prescription # 1, ready?

Slow down, tune in, rest, repeat.

I am certain I am not telling you anything you don't know. Slowing down and tuning in is crucial in order to know what our Inner Wisdom has to say about what our needs are, what the next right action is, and to speak what is really true. It is also required to received creative epiphanies and ways to do things differently and be more innovative, and definitely more fun. We have also all been told to rest. And yet, many of us don't do it. In particular, we don't do it when we feel overwhelmed and exhausted but the paradox is: slowing down and tuning in is the #1 way to prevent overwhelm and exhaustion. And trust me you have the time. Just calculate how much time you spend receiving information from outside of yourself, and cut external input by at least a 1/4. Which again, paradoxically, all that information adds to overwhelm and exhaustion. Begin to slow down long enough to hear YOUR TRUTH. And, when you intentionally slow down and tune in you will begin to sense when you are about to go into overwhelm before you are taken over by it.

It may seem counter-intuitive to slow down when you feel like you have to much to do or are overwhelmed. But here is a wisdom byte I received from my spiritual mentor years ago, and when I listen it proves to be true each and every time.

The more you slow down the more you can manipulate time.

So I am asking you to resist the urge to do more and rest less when you have a lot on your plate. I assure you exhaustion doesn't help you get anything done. I assure you not tuning into your own information, wisdom and needs will not get you through your to-do list faster, it will actually make things take longer because you end up doing all the things that seem quick and easy, but at your core are not all that important to you, and the things that are fall to the bottom of the list. When you slow down and tune in, you know what is important, you rarely move off center, and you do things in more creative and very often more simplified ways.

I would love for you to experiment with slowing down and tuning in whenever you feel you are about to go into overwhelm or are already in it and see what shifts. Do this for at least a week, listen for what is important and how to do things in a more simplified way. Make space for creative epiphanies. Let me know how you did.

This week I will be sharing practices that will support you in slowing down and tuning in over in my private FB Group. I hope you join us. I usually share the wisdom teachings on Wednesdays.
